Saké Restaurant and Bar – Eagle St Pier
Here’s a Brisbane gem that I always heard about but never ventured into. Saké Eagle St serves innovative Japanese dishes with an extensive range of sake, cocktails and wine. We dined here on a quiet weekday and I especially enjoyed the moody atmosphere with a view overlooking the Brisbane river. They offer private dining options which is a plus if you are considering dining for a special occasion. My first impression of the menu were that it was definitely on the more expensive side with two pieces of nigiri running from $10-$14 at the sushi bar (as small entrées). We made a reservation through The Fork which gives you 50% off the a la carte menu and were keen to try a bit of everything. While there are mixed reviews about Saké, I personally found that there are some standout dishes that definitely are worth having again.
One of our new favourite drinks! Osaka’s Choya Uji Umeshu. A delicate blend of Ume plum and green tea.
Left: Chef’s choice sushi set
Right: One of Saké’s signature dishes, Hiramasa Kingfish with soy dressing, housemade lime and jalapeno kosho
Left: Seaweed salad
Right: Grilled duck with truffle honey mustard, apple gari and konbu salt – hands down the best dish of the evening.
Left: S express sushi roll
Right: Agedashi tofu – okay.
