I would describe our dining experience at The North Room as unique and special. This is a restaurant that approaches dining in a completely different way with a cosy intimate space and interesting dishes made with local ingredients. Each dish is created by their philosophy to “eat with your eyes” with smaller share dishes of unique design and tastes. We opted for the share tasting style menu consisting of 5 shared dishes, a combination of your choice and chef’s specials. The menu changes depending on the season so there’s always something new to try. The atmosphere was small and intimate, literally a room with a cute bar and seating space. Our waitor was incredibly friendly and we enjoyed the more personal experience over conversations about each dish that was served.

First surprise appetiser was a little tasting of salted chicken skin. Definitely an interesting take and delicately prepared too.
Spanner crab, bone marrow crumpet, cultured cream and salted egg yolk – our favourite dish 🙂
Fingal Head pipis, smoked yoghurt, pomelo and radish.
Fish of the day, tomatillo puree and raw, broad peans, jicama, raspberry.
Pork jowel, blood orange, peanuts, oca yams, confit leek – super tender :’)
Despite not ordering dessert we were surprised with a little bit of pork fat salted caramel.
Who knew a small bar of sweetness would taste this good? I would go back just for this.
